The Evangelism Commission and the Stewardship Commission of the Diocese of Bethlehem invite you to register for the “Daring to Name the Holy” Conference on Saturday, May 18, at St. Stephen’s, Wilkes-Barre.

It is going to be a great day of celebration with the Rev. Dr. David Gortner of Virginia Theological Seminary as guest speaker.

We’ll be talking about matters of faith – and how we go about sharing the faith.

Special Interfaith Prayer Service for the Victims of the Boston Bombing, Thursday, April 18, 7 pm, at Center Square

The Easton Interfaith Action Committee plans to hold a gathering of at the Center Square, Easton at 7:00 PM on Thursday April 18 to express our prayers, concern, and condolences for the victims at the Boston marathon.

Clergy from several local churches and synagogues will lead a short interfaith service as we offer our prayers for peace.

Over the past few years, thousands of people from a wide variety of spiritual traditions have found themselves drawn to the mysterious and prayerful images found in the icons of Eastern Christianity. Until recently, few icon painters were accessible. Even fewer were willing to teach others this ancient art. We are thrilled to welcome iconographer Fr. Peter Pearson back to Trinity for this special workshop and retreat. Even if you have never written an icon before, you will benefit from this workshop.

Thursday, May 16, 6-9 pm

Friday, May 17, 6-9 pm

Saturday, May 18, 9 am – 4 pm

Sunday, May 19, 1 pm – 4 pm

Cost: $175.00 includes all materials. (Due by registration deadline. Limited scholarship available…please see the Rector.)

Class limited to 24.

Bring a bag lunch for Saturday.

Please sign up by 5 pm Wednesday, May 8th at the parish office.

Each Retreat or Workshop participant will experience the following:

Step by step instructions to start and complete an icon. All the materials will be provided.

Discussion of:

The development of iconography
The spirituality of creating an icon
Praying with icons
A number of related issues

Additional materials and texts to further the pursuit of iconography will be made available.
Every session begins and ends with prayer. This includes a blessing of the icons created during our time together.

Care Circle meets Sunday, April 7 at 6:30 for prayer, supper and study.

Care Circle: The next Care Circle meeting will be on Sunday, April 7th, at 6:30 pm at the home of Helen Forshaw. This group meets on the first Sunday of every month from September to June in member’s homes for a study of the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday, prayer, friendship, and dessert. On special occasions, we include a potluck dinner. We have a mission of service to our church and our community as needs arrive. We are currently collecting books for children that will be donated to the Children’s Literacy Program, entitled Cops ‘n’ Kids, in Easton. Please contact Helen Forshaw (610) 837-3033, or Kathy Counterman (908) 454- 5729 for more information and for carpooling to Helen’s house. All members of the church are welcome to attend.

Then this new-fangled Bible Study group, which could be just what the doctor ordered! The Bible without tears! This is not “the Bible for dummies.” But it is for people who feel sometimes dumb around the Bible.
