At Trinity Church, Baptism is a process that involves many in the congregation and is intended to support the person at whatever age in their formation as follower of Jesus Christ.
Baptism for Adults: Baptism and confirmation instruction is offered annually by the Rector for Adults. Individual instruction may also be arranged. Ideally, adults seeking baptism would start before Lent and prepare for baptism during that season and then be baptized at the Great Vigil of Easter (Easter Eve) and then later presented to the Bishop for Confirmation. Other times can also be arranged.
Baptism for Teenagers: Teens may receive instruction for Baptism by taking part in the Youth Confirmation Class and through Lay Cathechists. Ideally, teenagers would also be baptized during the Great Vigil of Easter (Easter Eve) and then presented to the Bishop for Confirmation. Speak to the Rector about arranging for Baptismal preparation.
Baptism for Infants and Young Children: Instruction for parents of infants and young children is mainly through through lay catechists. Sometimes we will match up a family with a family in the parish as mentors and spiritual guides. Our emphasis is helping families connect their experience and work as parents with the Christian formation of the child.
Confirmation is the next step after being a baptized communicant. Confirmation is a mature, public confession of the Christian faith before the congregation and the Bishop, with the laying on of hands and anointing by the Bishop. Read more about it here.
